You chose the RV lifestyle for freedom, adventure, and the great outdoors. But if you're honest, that tiny step coming out of your RV door isn't exactly "outdoor living."
What if you had a real deck at your RV site? A place to set up chairs, fire up the grill, and actually spread out?
That's exactly what an RV deck provides—and it's more achievable than you might think.
The RV Deck Concept
An RV deck is a portable deck designed to complement your RV setup. It sits adjacent to your RV, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor space.
What it gives you:
A flat, stable surface for furniture and activities
Room for chairs, tables, a grill, maybe even a hammock
A proper outdoor living area instead of sitting in camp chairs on uneven ground
An elevated space that stays cleaner than ground-level camping
What it doesn't require:
Permanent installation
Modification to your RV
Concrete footings or construction permits
Giving up the flexibility of RV life

Who Gets RV Decks?
Full-Time RVers
If you've committed to the full-time RV lifestyle, your "home" deserves a proper outdoor space. A deck at your permanent or semi-permanent site transforms your setup from "camping" to "living."
Seasonal Campers
Many RV owners keep their rig at a seasonal site—a lake property, a favorite campground, a family land spot. A deck makes that seasonal site feel like a true getaway.
RV Park Residents
Living in an RV park long-term? A deck creates your own outdoor living room. It's the difference between a parking spot and a home.
Property Owners with RV Hookups
Some folks have property with RV hookups for guests, family visits, or rental income. A deck makes that RV pad into a proper guest accommodation.

RV Deck Sizing
The right deck size depends on your RV and how you plan to use the space.
Small Decks (Entry Level)
Sizes: 6x8, 6x12, 8x8
Best for:
Small RVs and travel trailers
Basic entry platform with room for a couple chairs
Tight sites with limited space
Starting at: $69/month
Medium Decks (Most Popular for RVs)
Sizes: 8x12, 10x12, 10x16
Best for:
Mid-size RVs and fifth wheels
Room for a small dining table, several chairs, and a grill
Comfortable outdoor entertaining space
Starting at: $115/month
Large Decks (Maximum Outdoor Living)
Sizes: 12x16, 12x20, or larger
Best for:
Large RVs and permanent setups
Multiple activity zones
Serious outdoor living
Starting at: $194/month
Covered vs. Uncovered for RV Decks
Uncovered Decks
Pros:
Lower cost
Open to the sky
Works great if you have awning coverage from your RV
Best for: Sites with natural shade, budget-conscious buyers, or those who mainly use the deck in mornings/evenings
Covered Decks
Pros:
Shade from sun
Protection from rain
Usable in more weather conditions
Protects furniture and decor
Best for: Full-time RVers, sites without natural shade, Texas heat, anyone who wants maximum usability
The price difference: A roof typically adds $50-150/month depending on deck size. In Texas summers, most people say it's worth every penny.

How RV Deck Delivery Works
Site Assessment
Before building your deck, we need to understand your setup:
RV dimensions and door location
Site layout and available space
Design needed
For RV sites, we may ask for photos or measurements to ensure we build the right size and can deliver successfully.
Delivery Considerations
RV sites vary widely. Some things to think about:
Access: Can we access your site? We need 2' wider than the narrow side of the deck to get it in (so for a 8x16, we would need 10' of space).
Park rules: If you're in an RV park, does the park allow decks? Some have restrictions on size or require approval.
Setup
We position and level your deck adjacent to your RV. The goal is a seamless transition—step out of your RV, step onto your deck.
Setup typically takes 2-4 hours depending on site conditions and deck size.
Can You Move the Deck?
This is one of the best things about portable decks for RV owners: yes, you can potentially relocate it.
If you move your RV to a new site (same property or different property within our service area), we can often relocate your deck for a delivery fee. You're not locked into one location forever.
This flexibility is perfect for:
RVers who move seasonally between sites
Those who might upgrade to a different property
Anyone who values keeping their options open
Note: Relocation depends on the new site's accessibility and conditions. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
RV Deck Features to Consider
Steps
Your deck may need steps depending on how it's positioned relative to ground level. We build sturdy steps that integrate with the deck structure.
Railings
Railings aren't just decorative—they provide safety and can help define the space. We offer a couple different railing options.
Gates
If you have kids or pets, a gate in the railing system helps keep them safely on the deck. Especially important for elevated decks.
Positioning
Think about:
Which RV door will access the deck?
Are there storage door nearby that need to be worked around?
Where does shade fall at different times of day?
Where do you want to place furniture?
What view do you want from the deck?
The RV + Deck Lifestyle
Adding a deck to your RV setup changes the experience:
Mornings: Coffee on the deck, watching the sunrise, fresh air before the day heats up.
Daytime: A shaded spot to read, relax, or watch the kids play—not baking inside the RV or sitting on uneven ground.
Evenings: Grill dinner on the deck, eat outside, enjoy the evening breeze without mosquitoes from ground-level sitting.
Gatherings: Actually have space to host friends or family. Set up chairs, a table, maybe some string lights. It's a real outdoor room.
Storage: A stable, flat surface for coolers, gear, outdoor equipment—not scattered around on the ground.
Real Investment Numbers
Let's look at what an RV deck actually costs:
Deck | Cash Price | Monthly Payment |
8x10 treated, no roof | $2,320+Tax | $105/mo |
8x12 treated, no roof | $2,538+Tax | $115/mo |
10x12 treated, with roof | $4,836+Tax | $219/mo |
10x16 treated, with roof | $5,872+Tax | $265/mo |
For many RV owners, that $100-250/month is absolutely worth the upgrade in quality of life—especially for those spending significant time at their site.
Rent-to-Own Makes It Possible
One of the biggest advantages of Hershy Decks: rent-to-own financing with no credit check.
This matters for RV owners because:
Many have chosen RV life partly for financial flexibility
Traditional financing can be difficult for "non-traditional" purchases
No credit check means your financial history doesn't block you
If you can budget $100-300/month, you can have an RV deck. Period.
